A FreeElectrons.Family review: This is a family-friendly and kid-approved low-cost thing to do in Porto. This is the fastest and most convenient way to get to the bridge. Cost? 6 euros per adult, 3 for children 5-12 years old; Roundtrips 50% less; Family Ticket 22.50 euros for 2 adults, 2 children R/Trip. We had a great day trip in Porto on day 32 of the return trip of our family camping road trip from Spain to Poland and back (with a roundabout way through northern Spain and Portugal). This cable cars/gondola lifts/aerial tramways on the south side of the Douro river have an added benefit of seeing something unique while resting our short tired legs (especially important for the children). The cable car/lift goes right over a playground that is located smack dab in the heart of Vila Nova Nova de Gaia, across the river from the old town of Porto. See our day in Porto in pictures? This is an excellent place to visit while in Porto. Stroll around the area before going on the ride and enjoy the atmosphere of the area.Lots of great cafes. The ride takes you up and you see it all again from a different place.

I have to say that I was really scared it wouldn’t be worth it but guess what?! It was amazing couldn’t get any better views to the city. It is a little over price for the time you spend in there but worth it. I would recommend going around the sunset time.

Able car lower station. Come down and enjoy brisk walk around Gaia area

Interesting view, the distance is not very long but the trip allows you to cross Pont Luiz I and to get a nice view from above

It's okay, but 6 for a one-way-ticket is a total rip-off and not worth the experience, especially as the trip is rather short. There are several places in Vila Nova de Gaia where you can take pictures just as good for free. Can't recommend this.

Short ride up to the top cost 6 euros per head, wasn’t crowded when we went, we took a one way up and walked across the bridge - awesome views from the top and if you are a tourist regardless a must do at least once think. The ride to the top takes about 7 minutes maybe slightly less.
