Nothing special at all. Looks exciting at first, but it is really just a way to avoid climbing the stairs. If you are to tired from walking to climb up the stairs you can pay 2,50 and you will be at the top without an effort, but don't expect a great view or a joyful ride.

Great way to come up and down between Ribeira and Batalha, with the added benefit of having an Elétrico station in Batalha (upper part). It also has quick connection by foot to the train and subway station of São Bento. The Funicular of Guindais is very much used by tourists but also by people who commute up and down the city.
Great view. Great to use it as part of a combo: 1. Bridge 2. Cable car 3. Funi 4. Old tramp right near the uphill exit
Nice short ride uphill that saves you a lot of walking up from the ribeira district.
Ride it down, not up. 3 stars for the ride up, 5 stars for the ride down. If you ride it up you will be packed with 25 people. On the way down it was us and one person. If you have a pass, it is probably worth it.
If you take the stairs and make several pauses to breath you'll be on top faster than this thing
Ridiculous long wait for nothing really. Thought it might be a quick alternative to the stairs but rather take the stairs the next time.
It goes up. It comes down. The passenger cars are big with lots of windows, offering great views. Passengers are allowed to bring pets and bicycles on board. We took the car to the top, and walked back down. We were told that there are 322 steps on the walk that makes its way up and down the hill. You should know that these steps are made of cobblestone and appears to be very old. They are uneven and get very slick with the slightest hint of moisture. I would walk down them, but never up. There is lots of scenery on this walk up or down these stairs, and some great views of the market and the river. Highly recommended.
