Since discovering Drop Surf Center about 5 years ago I've returned with my family every year to take lessons with Nelson and his super-friendly team. I was back this week and although the conditions were a little challenging had the most fantastic surf lesson at Praia Lagide, moving beyond the basics, getting out back and progressing with my turns. Tuition is very clear and effective, these guys and girls really know what they're doing.

Went in August 2020, loved every minute. Very close to Baleal - north beach, with different area to develop, and different weather conditions to mix it up. A great experience with the instructors led by Nelson
We have had some lessons with Nelson and he is a great teacher. We learned a lot, Nelson was patient and always friendly. Highly recommended!

Very nice people. You can rent many types of boards - from beginners to advanced and wetsuits. They also offer surf lessons and yoga classes.
I booked my holiday in Baleal with the goal of improving my surfing skills. Two months before my departure I have been diagnosed with a hernia L5-S1 which was the cause of my continuous sciatica pain. I was a bit demotivated and about to postpone my trip, but at the end I changed my mind and I took the right decision! Nelson, the owner and main surf instructor, has been very helpful. He suggested me to do some bodysurfing in order to don't stress my back and that was awesome! I could improve my confidence with water and waves which is essential for surfing. At the center they also have a physiotherapist in order to follow you in the best way, in case you need it. I really enjoyed my time there. If you want to surf with a local and very passionate instructor, Nelson is definetly the best choice!
Such a great, chilled out place to improve your surfing. The coaches adapt the lessons to suit the level of the student so it’s perfect for all levels of experience! Had an awesome time, highly recommend
Exceptional service and friendly staff! Small groups really made me feel like I had a good amount of time with the instructor to progress my surfing.
