Very nice tiny medieval city with its city walls intact with castle. One can walk on top of the walls to get a better look of the little streets and houses beneath. Quite frequented by (day) tourists.
OBIDOS IS A CHARMING LITTLE WALLED TOWN. EASY TO VISIT FROM LISBON, JUST USE THE GREEN RAPIDE BUS (1 HOUR). THE CASTLE, THE WALLS, THE BACKSTREETS AND THE GINJA. RELAX AND ENJOY OBIDOS, DONT TRY TO RUSH ROUND IT.
Visited by chance on the way to Nazare, but got hooked to stay for 3-4 hours. It is a Medieval city with castles, churches, gift shops, restaurants. The atmosphere was great as there were not many tourists while I visited the place.
Obidos is a Great Historical Place to visit. Words just not enough.
There is a lovely storefront by the gates that offers one of the best cherry wine ever. (Sweetness and alcohol content, well-balanced) served in a chocolate cup (or any cup of your choice). They are kind enough to provide a pottery jar by the counter to dispose the toothpicks. Recommend to drop by either when you're entering or exiting the city walls. A lovely and colorful town. It is very beautiful!
Great place to spend 3 hours to look around. There are many small shops with lovely souvenirs. The streets and buildings here are historic. You can also walk along the wall.
