It was simply luck of the draw that Rui was the next driver in line when we walked out of the airport when we landed in Sao Jorge. Once he knew where we were staying, he immediately began offering suggestions for places to go and see. His love for the island is apparent, because he pointed us to the most amazing spots! He was our go-to driver while on the island, and when he couldn’t accommodate us, he sent someone who could, and made sure that driver knew exactly what our travel plans were. He put my anxious mind at ease, knowing we could count on him and not have to worry about pick-ups or drop-offs. We did not have the same experience in Sao Miguel, as most of our drivers did not speak English, one never arrived, and none were as timely as Rui! We found ourselves saying, “I wish Rui were here to tell us where to go!” Simply, the best we could have hoped for! Thank you SO much for your time, Rui! Rui went above and beyond for us during our trip to Sao Jorge. We used his taxi from the ferry terminal to Faja Do Oividor. His English is excellent and his sense of humor is even better. We cancelled our rent a car and booked Rui for an island tour instead. It was amazing. He showed us all the best places and joined in our joking. You will not be disappointed and we highly recommend him if you can get him. Obrigada Rui!
