During my trip to Lisbon in October 2020 I had the opportunity to discover many of the city’s parks and gardens. A festival dedicated to celebrating and boosting interest in ecology was just unfolding at that point, so I had the opportunity to enjoy the Portuguese green treasure and meet outstanding young people involved with the festival. It was a real pleasure to listen to you, that is, Joan's professional lecture about the decorative trees in the Prime minister’s residence garden, along with helpful recommendations for my brugmansia, and Thomas’s talk in Principe Real about gardening and the future of Portuguese horticulture. The boys and girls – volunteers from the Lisbon and Belem botanical gardens – hit it off well with us tourists and proved to be excellent guides to make one discover the city's parks and gardens. I’d like to congratulate all those young people that I met during the festival for their knowledge, attitude, and generosity.
