Very big place, i love it!
This particular store isn't that big... like so, it's limited when it comes to more specific items.
Great place to shop fresh food, excellent meat, and fish, wide variety of shoping options, with on budget prices. Has a small friendly Coffee shop with pastry and salted food(either sandwiches, 'Quiche', and many other), offers also some predefined menu options.
Nice supermarket with fresh vegetables and fruit, the meet is also good
Sadly no penguins! Pingo doce apparently means \sweet drop\, with \pingo\ meaning a drop of liquid not a penguin despite the word being pronounced Pingu. There is a small cafe at this one, but mostly it is a large supermarket. In UK terms it's about the size of a standard Tesco, so bigger than a Tesco local or metro and smaller than a hypermarket. There are many small Pingo Doce scattered around central Lisbon, but we are far enough out here in the suburbs for this one to be true supermarket, concentrating mainly on food. If you want something bigger there is a true hypermarket style supermarket selling everything nearby. It is under the Continente brand and is located a mile or so to the west. Another small Continente is about the same distance to the east, so ignore the signs to it if you want the big hypermarket and go west. But this Pingo Doce is fine for most food items, including some gluten free, lactose free and without sugar stuff for those on special diets.
Brilliant produce, great promotions and great wines! Checkout can be a bit slow in the smaller stores.
Great place for the afternoon coffee
