Booked a slot to take a look at the rock art and it was truly an experience. The guide was always ready to answer any questions and was truly passionate about explaining the rock art that we saw. There were only a few of us in the group so there was no rush at all and we took our time learning about the rock art. I spent some time at the museum too, and while it was quite sparse and I think I was there when it was undergoing some exhibition renovations, I did enjoy myself wandering around and listening to the audio guide. It's a small museum, so you'll probably be able to spend about 2 hours there. Do spend some time going up to the rooftop though - there's amazing views there too.

Impressive and unique! Extraordinary architecture that fits perfectly into the landscape! If you have a chance, go for a guided tour to the valley, don‘t miss, but check on times with good light conditions, so it is easier to see the „paintings“ Thanks again to the wonderful staff that supported us so well! The restaurant is worth a visit - the view on the Douro and Coã is breathtaking! Perfect for a sundowner #letsguide
Very interesting site! Enjoyed it more than I thought I would! Would love to come back!
Amazing day in kayaks visiting rock art sites in the Coa valley. Organised by the archaeological park, the tours run from 9.00 until 15.00, with up to seven kayaks, two ( child) in each. Lunch with regional products is provided. In September 2019 the trip costs 35 Euro per person. Best to avoid hot days over 26 Celsius as the valley is even hotter than the plateau above.
I just went there and took some pics outside. You have to schedule to do a guided tour.
We didn't visit the museum but took the guided tour of the Rock Art. Wow!!! The guided tour was very informative. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and spoke excellent English. The Rock Art is amazing to see. We went with our two boys sons who learnt a great deal (as did we) from this very informative tour. Highly recommend. Not suitable for people with mobility issues due to terrain.
Petroglyphs are in small amount. Very modest. Little, little cousin of sites in Africa or Asia (eg. Tamgaly in Kazakhstan).
Douro is one of the greats places in the world its amazing
