Stopped here on a Madeira East Tour, Interesting area with great little beach besides the brewery and some great views. The brewery makes rum from the sugar cane along with some other products. We tasted the tangerine rum and had a look around the brewery. Information is available from the screens and you can have a good nose about. The brewery is steam driven, the machines to facilitate this are still of course in place and also make an interesting view on older times. Enjoyed our stop but you couldn't spend too long here.

Nice little distillery, with a shop along with it. Its only active for 1 week each year, but it seemed that the produktion Hall/museum was open all year around. No entrance fee, other than they encouraged people to visit the shop. Recommended

During harvest season I suspect it will be a better time to visit and see the processes in action. We went in late October so nothing going on. It was still interesting to see the equipment and read a little about the process. There is a TV showing it but it is a bit small. There is also a shop and an opportunity to try and buy a drink or bottles ranging in prices. Fabulous view outside and some parking is available.

This is the place where every year the sugar canes are squeezed in order to extract the juice and produce the marvelous Madeira Rum. You enter free of charge and and go around by yourself and see the various machinery used to produce the rum. There is also a tv with a relatively short and well produced video showing the whole process. Really cool! There is also a shop nearby where you can taste and buy all types of Madeira Rum and regional delicacies.

Amazing place for all rum lovers. The factory tour is free. We had privat guide with testing of 7 different rums just for 10. We learn a lot about history of rum production on Madeira. . There is also shop where you can buy rum and other souvenirs.

Stumbled on this whilst walking in the area. Great to just freely walk in and see the work in progress, great sounds and smells. The shop attached was very busy so cant really comment on that. Worth popping along and experiencing the distillery.

Great rums at all price levels and friendly, knowledgeable staff. It was also really interesting to have a look at the production equipment. The surroundings are beautiful, too. Worth a stop!
