A fantastic museum. Beautifully designed and informative. The restaurant is lovely with great food.
Very nice museum with plenty of information about the process to extract olive oil. The restaurant was great and the food fantastic. Very recommended!
Beautifull building, lots of good information on ancient pressing of olive oil, very nice interactive features, beautifull movies and photos. I missed the part of modern pressing, the owner has a press next to the building but that was not representing how a modern press should be, clean and tidy. The little shop offers olive oils, unfortunately the olive oil on display I tasted was rancid and therefor not extra virgin. The shop is a little over merchandised with the Museum sticker on everything. If I was them I would not only represent their own brand but sell the good olive oils from all over Portugal to really get an experience of Portuguese olive oil. Like wine the terroir and varieties really make a difference and its fun to experience that at a museum.l like this. Over all definately worth visiting and I will be back.
It was very interesting.
A perfect day out, visit Bobadela close to Oliveira do hospital. The Roman ruins are impressive in this little village and the museu do Azeite\museum of olive oil\ gives you the perfect impression and experience how this magical delicious product on your plate is made in real life. On top of it all you can have lunch or dinner in their restaurant with spectacular view on the Serra da Estrela. We had costela de barrosã and migas and both we're delicious! They also have vegitarian food!
A well presented history in a magnificent building
