Lisbon Montessori School is a sister school of Vilnius Montessori School (www.vms.lt), which has been in operation since 2010, as both schools were founded by the same founder. Lisbon Montessori School is based on the educational philosophy developed by Dr. Maria Montessori and it strives to implement the methods created by this all-time-remarkable educator. In practice our school translates this to ‘eliciting the joy of learning from within children. Between birth and 6 years of age children construct their personalities, which makes this period of development extremely important. Children at this age are thirsty for knowledge about their immediate environment. LMS works to create environments where children will feel safe, able, trustworthy, appreciated, and encouraged to focus deeply on their activities. The elementary age children (6-12) develop their already constructed personalities and are open and eager to explore the world. The Montessori program offers Cosmic Education to the children of this developmental plane. These children are also extremely socially oriented. Our Montessori Prepared Environments help the child to harness this power to build a personality of integrity and awareness. We see education as a holistic affair. The child begins his schooling career with us to not only learn the cultural subjects like language, math, or sciences. The child is also welcomed to our environments to become a socially and emotionally able person.
