INEGI – Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering is a Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) devoted to carry out research and technology-based innovation activities, technology transfer, consulting and technological services, oriented to the development of industry and economy in general. It was founded in 1986 from two Departments of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), namely the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Industrial Engineering and Management Department. Nowadays, it is a non-profit, private and recognised public utility Institution.
