Must visit place of the Island of Pico. It's free for Residents of the Azores. There will be an introductory video with nice information and a tour guide to accompany you and explain everything. The experience was unique and quite enjoyable. You'll be provided with a helmet and flashlight.

Amazing! Great experience, very well guided! When in Pico again, I will for sure do this tour one more time! Wear trekking shoes and smth to protect from dripping water from the ceiling of the cave. Temperatura inside is lower, but not that cold, t-shirt and hoodie are more than fine!

It's okay. The tour is very short on the caves and there's only bacteria and fungos on the wall, besides the lava formations. The entrance is really pretty though.

Saw this place and the guide was just marvelous. He was fluent in English as well as Portuguese and was able to guide our small group interestingly and entertainingly through the grotto. You have to come here but make sure to book ahead as they only take small groups of 12-15 people into it. But it’s definitely worth the small entry fee of 8 per adult person

Fantastic place. My favourite of the two lava tube tours as it's much less developed (no lights or paved ways underground). Note though that it's only accessible by guided tours, which are at specific times of the day and of limited numbers (around 15 people each) so it's important to book in advance. An amazing experience led by knowledgeable guides who can describe the process and lava types in to be found (as well as pointing out the low ceilings, trip hazard and slippery bits :)). Fantastic formations and colours. Just having torchlight makes it more atmospheric. Highly recommended.

Very good place to go during this time of the year. Parking was easy. Our local guide is really passionate about the cave. 8 euros of entrance fee seems pretty fair. In awe of how a lava cave looks like. Amazing!
