This is the perfect location to start your pico hikes from, if you’re an experienced hiker. The main hiking paths up to Pico Ruvio are very touristy, so we decided to attempt the hike from Curral das Freiras, and we absolutely loved it.
One of the most spectacular places that I’ve seen on all the islands that I’ve visited. The almost vertical cliffs, and the incredible depth of the valley create spectacular views. Once you drive down to the village, there are coffee shops that you can try traditional snacks. I highly recommend this place.
I absolutely like this chestnut-eucalyptus valley. So kind people and nice view.
Very cold day, there were not very people here today. Just ordered a coffee to warm me up. We were given 4 sample taster liquor
Beautiful nature! The views are to die for! The good thing is that you are still close to civilization, there are a couple of very basic but nice local bars there, too. There is a river at the bottom of the valley with a local beach - huge rocks where people sunbathe and even swim in the river pool. The recommended descending route (there are directing boards everywhere) takes a couple of hours. It's a nice walk, but please, no sandals! Good walking shoes are a must!
Such a beautiful place to go. Stunning views. Lovely locals. So friendly.
Good views and nice people! Great place to try local cuisine
