THE OFFICE IS CLOSED FOR 14 DAYS !! 16 MARCH 2020. It's impossible to book appointment online so even if you could you have wait months for your turn to come. So we went to the office and the lady she said we can't check you without giving us any information. Just like you can't be checked , you cant be checked. When we asked why, she goes we are busy! We unprofessional and rude. The police officer was very helpful and advised us to come early morning and have your ticket to be checked on the same day.

I called the Registos Centrais from the United States. I had several questions on how to fill a form on getting my adult children Portuguese citizenship. The woman on the phone (I wish I had gotten her name) was extremely patient, took her time to answer all my questions and was very helpful. I did speak in Portuguese to her and not sure how easy it would be if you called and spoke another language.

Very long waiting time. You have to be early (be there before 6am) staff is very friendly and helpful.

You have to arrive hours before opening time, when you finally get there you MUST be lucky enough to receive a ticket because they have a number of tickets, if you’re unfortunate enough you return the next day, if you’re fortunate, you stand or sit waiting from 6am to 4pm my case

It is very normal to wait for your turn. If you bring all your documents well completed without any failure. Then very nice IRN office to come and do the rest. We can assess that they are dealing with a huge number of files to process. We must appreciate the IRN officials for there hard work.
