It was my second time visiting this amazing place but with COVID-19 it was a different experience since we had to user mask and gloves. Not many lights were in the main gallery which it was a shame but still beautiful as I remembered. Our guide was hilarious and made our visit very enjoyable.

Mira de Aire Caves is beautiful and is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal. It is the largest cave system in Portugal and visitors are guided through 600 m (out of 11 km) of limestone caves. The tour starts with a video followed by a descend of 683 steps with stops in various galleries. The guided tours provide detailed explanations on the cave discovery and the various rock formations. The tours are conducted in various languages. We had our guided tour in English. Nice!
One of the 7 wonders of Portugal, the place is beautiful and well organized. I do recommend the tour. One suggestion for the guides, let the visitors appreciate more the environment, observe and feel the atmosphere. During my visit, the guide was rushing, skipping the explanations and we almost didn't have the possibility to understand the place we were.
These caves were discovered on July 27, 1947. The length of these caves is 11500 meters. For visiting, about 600 m and up to 110 meters in depth are available. The temperature inside the cave is 17 . Illuminates about 3000lamps. You can visit at the same time in a group of up to 30 people. The descent goes down the stairs, and the climb up is by elevator. Inside the cave there are several names: "Great Hall", "Red Hall", "Golden Room", there is also "Devil's Mouth", or as it was called "Mother-in-law". All around are fascinated by stalactites and stalagmites, which are millions of years old. It will be interesting to everyone, both adults and children.
The caves are amazing, I'd have rated this 5 stars but I can't do that because of the lousy Guided Visit, it was guided by a person who knew nothing about the caves, only repeating a manuscript along the tour, totally forced and with a very poor attitude as if that wasn't actually his job. Ended up being a poor experience in an amazing natural environment.
When in the region it's a very nice place to visit.
If you like caves this is a must see. Just keep in mind that there are 600 steps down and it is wet and a bit slippery. There is an elevator for the journey back up but it will leave you 1000 feet away from your car. It is a nice visit.
A beautiful cave with quite a diverse set of Chambers, stalactites and stalagmites. The tour is guided with guides who speak both Portuguese and English, requires coming down many wet steps reaching the depth of approximately 110 meters (a lift will bring the visitors back up). Spoiler alert: it would be a 5 star rating, but the artificial water fountains in the last lake or so called "event room" have definitely put me off.
