I liked the peaceful ambient, the smiles in every people I pass. All of this due to the fantastic ambient created by the staff. It was the day of a free visit to the artificial christmas crib - the natural was not present due to the adverse weather changes that occurred days before...
Historic Castle. Well preserved
A verry old castle. In original state. It makes it more difficult to walk but it is a verry nice experience. For kids to but help them and give them a firm hand to hold.
A pretty old castle. They have a special Christmas presepio (crib) with live animals, local foods and drink and a nativity. There is also a church inside the castle
The castle at Penela sits above the town and offers great views if you climb up to the ramparts. Entry is free but there is no visitor centre like the much larger castle in Pombal. There are displays in Portuguese and English which give a brief history and a souvenir shop for local artefacts near the council building.
Well maintained castle. Clear descriptions that were in English. Best part was that it is free!
Excellent location, well kept and with plenty of information. It's worth a lengthy visit for lots of scenic photos.
