We visited the town of Lajido to see the traditional architecture featuring walls of black volcanic stones with the windows and doors painted in bright colors and then stumbled over this wonderful place by accident. Do not leave the island without making a visit here! So much educational material presented in an interesting way but the key attraction is the shake table so you can understand what it feels like to be in an earthquake. It lacks obvious signage on the outside

Casa do Vulcões is the place to go if you are curious about how earthquakes happen and Azorean vulcanic activity. Here you will travel to the center of the earth and experience unique sensations and comprehensively understand the Azorean natural resources, namely Azorean geodiversity. The seismic simulator is interesting to understand the intensity of the earthquakes. You will leave this place knowing more about what to do during and after an earthquake.

Sin duda, la atracción máxima es el simulador de terremotos. De resto, el personal guía carece de formación en la área, por lo que la \interpretación\ del centro no pasa más allá de ver un vídeo y la lectura de paneles. La distribución e información incluida en estos últimos es bastante elaborada e interpretativa.
