We ate at Calcuta on Rua do Norte most recently in September, 2018. This was our 3rd visit, after eating there twice during a trip to Lisbon in 2016. My wife was really looking forward to returning here in 2018 but we were disappointed. Nothing was bad. It was just mediocre. It wasn't as good as our visits in 2016. We arrived just after they opened for dinner at 6PM. Although we were the only people in the restaurant, we weren't allowed to sit in their one window seat because they keep that open for a writer who frequents the place. We also weren't able to get any naan bread because they didn't pre-heat the oven and said it would take 30-45 minutes after opening for it to be ready. The Papari Masali (papadums) were decent, as were the Chamuças de Frango (samosas). An order of jirra rice is definitely enough for 2. My wife had a spicy chicken curry dish that isn't on the menu on the web site. I had a Seekh kabab, a grilled minced lamb kabab. It was good, but overcooked. The total price was 36 Euros, including beers, which I have nothing to complain about. All in all, it was, as I said before, mediocre. The server and staff were friendly as always. We will probably return for a late night curry after a night of Bairro Alto drinking, but there are other Indian restaurants in Lisboa that have been recommended by an Indian friend that we will likely pursue for a planned dinner next visit.
One of the nicest Indian Restaurants to visit in Lisbon. Its in the heart of the city and will give you some authentic flavors to enjoy if you are missing the Indian spices. The owner speaks hindi just in case you are missing that as well ;) The staff is very courteous and helpful. We enjoyed our meal totally.
Very good Indian food! Just the sangria is not top but for the food you can go without any problem ;)
Very near to the hotel we are staying. Food was not bad and so was the portion size jeera rice could have done with less oil. Plates were cold and hardly any choice for dessert. The waiter could do with some charisma.
This is a great place to break away from the regional food. Delicious Indian food. Quiet atmosphere. Just make sure you arrive an hour before closing to get seated.
Good Indian authentic food. A bit pricey given its location but definitely worth it
Great place, great people, great environment! The food was really good! I definitely recommend this
