We just completed a tour with Tiago and it was awesome. He is very passionate about the island and very well-informed about most everything. I would highly recommend this tour. We were definitely venturing off of the main roads. The lunch was superb. All in all, a fantastic day! Thank you so much!
Gabriel was a highlight of the tour. Very personable young man who was very well versed on the history and sights of the island. Be aware that the use of the term 'jeep' is ment to portray generic 4x4. Or ride was more like a 4x4 van. This choice was a hugh benefit for comfort and easy access (I know as I have owned several actual Jeeps). We saw the island from the view of small villages and dirt roads. This is probably a don't miss activity.

Highly recommend Comunicair as a company. Everything is very professional and thoughtfully organised, with the natural environment always in mind. Gabriel took us on the jeep safari to all parts of the island - an excellent introduction to Terceira. His English vocabulary is excellent and he is a fount of knowledge about geology, history, flora, etc. His enthusiasm for the island is remarkable and we learned such a lot. Tiago, the proprietor, took us on a day’s trek, which in places was challenging, but he was so kind and helpful and encouraging. His prolific knowledge of the geology of the volcanoes, the bird life, and the flora made the trip a great success.
My fiance and I did the coastal tour guided by Tiago, and we had such a great time. He was very knowledgeable about the area, and had a ton of facts for us the entire time. The hike was a little tough in beginning as it was all uphill, but for most of it it was flat or downhill. There were lots of opportunities for pictures, and about halfway through he brought some local tea for us to have. I'd highly recommend Tiago, or anyone from his company to tour with. The next day we did a ( wine and cave tour) trip wth Gabrielle who was just as great as Tiago with professionalism and knowledge of that tour. His English was very good and it was just me and my fiance on this trip, so it felt like a personal tour. We spent some time walking around vinyards and exploring the North side of island. There was a lovely wine and cheese picnic by the ocean, followed by walking into the caves. Gabrielle's background in geology seemed to be very useful in talking about volcano formations and current landscape of tereceira. We had a blast with Gabrielle and would recommend him to anyone!
Booked a 4x4 guided full day. Gabrielle was fantastic. We couldn't have received a better more attentive tour guide of Terceira Island. The tour picked myself and my girlfriend up at our hotel in the morning and the adventure began. So many beautiful places to see throughout the island, but somehow Gabrielle got a lot of fun exciting information packed into the day! Some of the places visited just to a few....Mont brasil, algar do carvao, biscoitis, serra do come, black lava coast, and the back roads of the island! Woo-hoo! We stopped for on the west side of the island at Ti Choa for lunch....what can I say! I was blown away. The wine, the sausage, the pork, the alcarta, the desserts....soooo DELICIOUS! The whole day was packed with adventure, laughs, and useful information. I was so glad to be part of this experience.... And to our tour mates, Lubi and Joan from Florida. Thanks for being great too!
When we booked our tour package through Azores Getaways, we were so fortunate to have several day trips through ComunicAir. Each one was excellent and each guide showed a passion for the history of Terceira and its special trails, lookouts, & landmarks. The day trips we took were 2-8 persons and were personalized to the group. The knowledge of the guides was phenomenal and included info on plants, volcanoes, wine growing, ocean activity, lava formations, fortresses, cloud & wind movements & agriculture-farming activities. More importantly, the guides were so engaged, they were like friends and it made our experiences a memory to cherish. Tiago & Isabel, who own the company, are very responsive & operate the highest quality service with unlimited energy. And, they will adjust tours to accommodate the varying weather patterns so your tour is at its best. We did not take their sea kayaking or hot air balloon tours, but know they would have been great based on our other experiences. Highly recommended for great adventures on Terceira.
