We paid to come on the tour, which was only four people. Really didn't seem too popular, but could have just been the day. The whole area was build in the 1500s, and the tour guide pointed out how interesting it is for that era that the cloister was build in a circle shape. There is an active military base on behind, using up most of the area. We actually had someone from the military escort our tour group up to the roof of the dome. It was a spectacular view of the city from up there, and I would recommend it for the quietness.
Fantastic place with an amazing view over the city and the river banks. Truly a must see place while visiting Porto/Gaia.
Was a monastery but now some part are used for military purposes. Entrance fee is 2 but there's nothing much to see. Just think of the 2 as a donation for them to manage / maintain the place. The positive side is: the view from the monastery, overlooking Luis Bridge, it's beautiful!
We went there at 5:45pm,.closing time is 6:30pm, but the area is closed except. cloister, so it's a bit less interesting. Since it is an active military area, there's more vsit restriction than other places, so better go earlier. there was a video for Northern Portugal sightseeing and heritage places, FYI.
A 4 euro complete tour takes you to church and the balcony on the top.
Nice Views Looks fantastic lit up at night.
A must-visit place in Porto. We easy to get there by subway, great view a nice places to hang out
