I have been coming for years. It's a superior quality of Port.

We arrived as they were about to close but Christie showed us upstairs and let us taste before we bought our bottle. She was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations. Very small batch. You won't find this exported. Bring your wallet if you want the older vintages but they are truely worth it. Best port on the street.

A few reviewers had bad experiences, and we almost did too. It was due to miscommunication, so hopefully this review will help you have a great visit. You don't need to attend a tour to taste & buy their port. Us not knowing this caused initial miscommunication. After we clearly stated we just wanted to taste port, Jorgito was happy to oblige. Jorgito lead us upstairs to a tasting lounge and talking us through each port. He was entertaining and informational and attentive - a bit eccentric but very memorable. We probably spent 60 minutes here. We LOVED the port. Best we had during our two weeks in Portugal. We shipped a bunch to Poland. Arrived without issue.

We had an amazing visit here! The port was wonderful and Jorge was a perfect tour guide. He was so knowledgeable and fun - the best combination. I strongly recommend you schedule a visit in advance so you can spend some time with Jorge. even though they are located along the river among all the other port houses, this was a much more personal, one of a kind experience!

Great place, fantastic explanation and the wines tasted fabulous. I bought 6 special bottles and 6 \daily drinkable red portwines\. I got delivered by the transporter 12 bottles, but 6 of them were white portwines which I didn't order. They just sent it wrong or purposely to get rid of it. Many calls I did untill nobody answered me anymore. Pity that they did this as the place is really not bad...next time I will try one of the neighbours...

Jorgito gave us a wonderful private tour of the caves and then treated us to an incredible tasting of 3 ports. We were absolutely delighted by their offerings, and then because the 3 were so incredible, we opted to upgrade to try the 40 year tawny and took a bottle home with us. These ports were some of, if not THE, best we've had. Vasconcellos is a well-kept secret and if you love port, you owe it to yourself to visit or find a way to buy some of these. The 10 year white was fantastic. I wasn't a white port fan and other than this one, really hadn't found another I liked as well.

The gentleman standing at the front entrance didn't allow my husband and I to have a tour/tasting. He explained we were only allowed to buy bottles but not taste. I'm not sure that is standard policy after reading other reviews. Perhaps he was biased and wasn't a fan of us despite my husband speaking Portuguese. Either way, what a shame. I never tried their port but I definitely left with a bad taste in my mouth.

Fantastic place, and fantastic port. We were treated so well, and so personally. The tasting was everything a port tasting should be. Intimate, personal, leisurely, 0 pressure to buy (but wow, did we buy!) and tasty. If you want to sample GOOD port, then compare it to some AMAZING port, this is your place.
