An interesting place frequented mostly by locals. You can sit there for hours, I'd you want, sipping an espresso, and no one will bat an eye. When I was there around 4pm, there were a few locals enjoying miscellaneous small drinks, reading newspapers, talking. No one was on their smartphones. Wow. I like that a lot. The service is nice, but only one girl sort of spoke English. I tried French and Russian, but that did not work, either. But we were able to come to an understanding anyway. I ordered a Francisinha, and it was a good value. The fries were pale and bland. But the white sangria was lovely. I also got an icecream to go before I left, and it was lovely. A separate word on the bathroom situation. It is not great, and there was no soap and paper towels. But I would say it is a fixable problem.

DON'T RECOMMEND! The Food was awful and too expensive. The meat was burned outside and frozen inside.. honestly don't know how they did that. The second plate was cold and just not worth the money.

OMG, the salad was absolutely nothing special. A mistake to date there considering that after having salad I had to visit the toilet, which is when I realized how dirty and smelly the toilet was where there was no hand soap or napkin. If the toilet is so dirty then you can imagine the hygiene of those who serve in this resturant.

A coffe/restaurant with a great view over the river. The food is very good and they serve tipical portuguese dishes. Its great to have a meal or just to have a quick snack with a great coffe. Just steps away from the Jardim do Morro and the Dom Luis I bridge.

If I could I would give a six stars, very good food, big portions, inexpensive. Friendly staff, we kept coming back to Cafe Avenida during our stay.

Delicious Pernil afumado assado al forno (grilled smoked ham). This is an honest place with excellent steak, bacalhau and plates of the day. Inexpensive and tasty.
