The museum is well designed and it blends nicely into the surrounding landscape. The view is nice and you can contemplate the river below. There's free parking next to the biilding but there is a small entry fee for you to visit the museum.

The location and the museum building are very beautiful and the museum presentation of the history of rock art is interesting . However j did a guided tour of the rock art itself and found it a bit underwhelming, it's very difficult to see the designs because they are very faintly etched on the rocks. They're obviously very very important historically, but perhaps not the most exciting thing to visit!

Great place. You should call and book a tour to a sites well in advance, as there is a lot of people.

Good museum with good explanations of the valley's rock art, much of it 20,000 years old. Many graphic panels, some replicas and some very good animations. Brutalist concrete building is not to my taste. It feels like a nuclear bunker. But the cafe/restaurant is bright and beautiful with views across the mountains. The terrace outside has a beautiful view down to the river.

The museum itself is amazing and we were really surprised there is such a place in Portugal but... only one of the personal at the info desk spoke English, the beautiful tours outside museum are difficult to arrive to (20minutes ride with a taxi driver who does not speak English and you have to pray for him to appear on time and bring you to the meeting point). The museum is so thrilling architecturally but there is not much use out of it. Lack of promotion and logistics of operation. Still can’t believe that we got to see Paleolithic rock art on UNESCO site and there were only 4 other visitors with us.

Great museum. Very interesting and impressive presentation of the prehistoric images. We combined the visit with a tour of the Penascosa site. Many thanks to our guide - we had a great day.
