One of the amazing castles I’ve ever seen . It was a palace then it became a museum. Don’t miss passing when be in Sintra .

As the best preserved Medieval Royal Palace in Portugal, Sintra National Palace is now a Historic House Museum. Striking white washed building complex and orange colored roofing, the Palace looks glorious from inside and out. Located right in the Town centre, it is a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site and a very popular tourist attraction. With quite a few Palaces in the area, Sintra should be a must visit destination indeed if you are visiting Portugal. Two photos attached.

A fairy-tale castle not to be missed when in Sintra. Set on a high hill with gorgeous views. Make sure to see the gardens as well, prepare to walk a lot as the distances between the interest points are quite long. A recently restored chalet is a must and contains beautiful cork decorations. I have not seen the inside of the castle and just half of the gardens' space but the visit took me almost 3 hrs. Plan plenty of time, do not rush and enjoy the magic.

Enjoyed visiting this Palace in the heart of Sintra. It’s history spans several centuries with parts added over time. The Coat of arms room - Sala dos Brasões - is particularly stunning and many other rooms feature beautifully painted ceilings.
