Great for a rainy day. Good news is that the entrance is free of charge. The building itself is quite interesting and so are the views from the top floor (although the windows could have been cleaner when I was there), the exposition is okay.

Splendid museum for aficionados of photography, located in a former penitentiary. Admission is free unless one wants to visit the rotating special exhibit. On the third floor is an awesome collection of vintage cameras.

It was originally a prison. When I visited in November 2019, it hosted photography exhibitions and they showed some old cameras. Once you enter and see the large iron gates and huge locks, you will understand that it was a prison. It is amazing how this place of suffering turned into a place that celebrates arts and humanity. And entrance was for FREE.

Fantastic space in a converted old jail. Superbly presented exhibitions.

Great photography museum and exhibition in the old porto jail. Walking round is free and you guide yourself so there's no time pressures. I was there for 90 mins and it was great

Interesting museum with free entrance. Worth visit when in Porto. More than the exhibition itself, I found the building of the museum bigger amusement as it is located in old prison.

Fascinating collection of cameras, including old studio cameras, police cameras, miniature cameras and spy cameras. Signs are in both English and Portuguese, but it would be helpful to have more information about individual cameras. There are also photography exhibits that were very nice. The building is quite interesting - it was built as a prison, and the court room and jail cells are still clear.

Great exhibit of old photography equipment and cameras/ rotating phot exhibits a bit weak. Building and it’s history are fascinating / the old jail cells where dissidents and authors and political prisoners were held - now exhibit rooms - was a bit chilling and sobering. Amazing collection of cameras from the 1800s to more modern - well presented - and oh yeah - FREE admission.
