The original Palacio Cristal was built for the International Show in 1865 and the gardens were designed by German landscape architect Emílio David. The building itself was destroyed in the 1950s and has now been replaced by a modern dome complex used for sport, but the beautiful gardens survive. The hilltop location overlooking the River Douro gives fantastic views of the city. I would call them the magical gardens. The front garden is full of peacocks and camellia trees, fountains and statues representing the four seasons. You get some very fine viewpoints of the city with its river.

Surprisingly enticing. Upon entering, it is very lavish and very quickly becomes very minimal and generic, but that is until You start turning corners and going up and down little stairs to realise the park has small section separated from one to the other, each has its own style and charm, consequently needing way more time to explore and enjoy than anticipated. Lovely place for a peace of mind with many locations and settings for stunning photographs.
Green and green and green and then colourful peacocks. Amazing views. A park for families and children
Nice park to see Porto during the day and night. The river and Gaia can be seen. There is a jogging track and also a free exhibition in the library
It's a very beautiful. The peacocks and other exotic birds are walking freely. The blooming roses in January are incredible.
Amazing Park. Best view over Porto. It’s really worth to visit. Breathtaking views.
This was one of my favourite places in Porto. For people who don't like to be on the beach the whole day, this is an alternate option. The gardens are really big with wonderful views of Porto. You can see both the bridges and the River looks beautiful from up here. This place has a lot of shade to have picnics or just a peaceful spot to relax. There is a gelataria on the grounds as well. And the Porto letters of course, for the classic Instagram picture.
Really nice area. Perfect for hanging out and lazing trough the afternoon. The place was closed when I was there and there where almost no bins and couldn't find toilets. Other than that I'd still reffomend going there to enjoy the views over the river and city.
