I was a tourist in Porto and wanted to train a bit. Sent a message on their FB page asking for their schedule and they replied on the same day. Mauricio is a nice coach and even teached the class in english so I could understand it. The class is 10 and you can rent a GI for 4.

I came to vacation in Porto from the States and wanted to train while here. Prof. Mauricio and his students were very welcoming and the training was great. I’m a one stripe blue belt and the class was fun and accessible, especially because Mauricio would explain the moves and drills in English after doing so in Portuguese. I’d recommend training here for anyone who wants to get in some rolls on vacation (and you can rent a gi if you didn’t bring your own!).

Alliance Porto has been a family away from home for me during my several month stay in Porto. The school is run by Mauricio and his Wife Camille. Mauricio teaches in Portuguese and English for anyone who does not speak Portuguese and offers structured, challenging lessons to people of all abilities/ages/gender/background etc. The club is always clean and the facilities are really nice. And last but certainly not least, the people who go there are all kind, welcoming people who will go hard with you sparring and then have a friendly chat with you after :)

I had a very pleasant and informative experience in Alliance, Porto. Mauricio is a knowledgable coach, keen on paying high attention to details, having very patient, humble and respectful attitude toward practitioners. Even though I was the only English speaker in the group, the coach went out of the way to explain the techniques in English language in a very clear and informative manner. The group was also very friendly and welcoming. Overall - very solid technique, friendly environment, clean and neat venue and great experience.

The instructor is exceptionally knowledgeable, with thirty years of experience. He taught the class in English, which was very kind of him. Absolutely stunning facilities, too! Highly recommended.

This place is awesome, if you are traveling Mauricio teaches in English and is a highly skilled very welcoming 3rd degree black belt. Drop in and gi rental are very low compared to other schools.

Professor Mauricio welcomed me with open arms. Nice friendly academy that teaches good solid jiu-jitsu. Professor Mauricio was able to teach the class in both English and Portuguese, so it was good for both visitors (like myself) and locals. If you're in Porto, I highly recommend stopping in at Alliance Porto. Great gym!
