In August 2019 we visited the Acores islands and flew with Air Acores. One of our flights got cancelled less then a day upfront, causing us to miss our connecting flight to Lisbon and forced us to stay a day in Sao Miguel. The extra costs for the hotel and taxi we paid ourselves and we were promised by personnel of Air Acores that we would be reimbursed. Additionally, we also filed a claim for the cancelled flight as we are eligible for compensation. Now, half a year later, we still did not received any compensation (even though there's little to argue, we even had a signed form from SATA confirming the whole situation which we got on the airport). Communication is difficult with SATA. The only way to communicate about the claim status is through e-mail. They refuse to give any information by phone and simply advise to send a reminder by e-mail on regular basis. And not surprisingly of course, SATA air is remarkably slow in answering any e-mail. I'm pretty sure that SATA Air Acores tries to take as much time as possible to handle claims to discourage people from claiming and to give up on it. Edit: in April 2020 we received full compensation of SATA. Although the communication was slow and not always clear, we are satisfied with the compensation paid.

If I could leave negative stars I would. 4/4 flights on our trip were delayed ranging from 3 to 10 hours. Zero communication each time. Food is awful, most of the crew were miserable. Totally rubbish airline.

Our flight was cancelled just two hours before departure and we were changed yo another one the following day which was not a direct flight of 1hour and a half as the one we paid, but It had a stop and took us 3hours. The worst thing is that we were told It was a same conditions flight and no one would warned us of this and we realized after having our luggage checked in.

Apesar do staff ser muitíssimo simpático e prestável, a verdade é os voos da Sara ou Azores airlines andam sempre atrasados e/ou cancelados causando grandes transtornos. É lamentável, uma vez que é o meio de transporte mais eficaz para chegar, partir ou circular entre ilhas. Tendo em conta o aumento considerável de turismo nos Açores, é imperativo que as condições melhorem rapidamente
