I cannot recommend this tour enough. Moby Dick is run as a family business, and the level of care given throughout, to customers and animals is something to be proud of on their behalf. Me and my partner enjoyed our first trip so much, we booked again. The price of the tour is 40, and if you don't see any animals then it is refunded. The boat itself is made of wood has a much higher viewing point unlike some.of the other boats. It also doesn't make as much noise as the smaller, faster boats meaning the animals are more inclined to come closer by their own will. It also creates more waves for the dolphins (they prefer to play/surf with this boat more than the others. As we found out on our first trip). On the 1st trip we saw two Blue Whales, and a pod of Common Dolphins. To ensure we saw the whales the owners booked a bus to take us to another harbour so we could travel out further to see them, which I thought was incredible customer care. On our second trip we saw 3 or 4 different Sperm Whale, which came very close and then later some Humpback Whales, and some more Common Dolphin. I can safely say this made my Holiday If I ever come back to Sao Miguel (which I intend to), I shall be booking with this family. It is in no way like a package tour, it is run with care and thought, and with a passion for the animals. It's a trip I shall never forget! Thank you so much Moby Dick!! Xxx

I've tried a few of these whale watching tours and this was the absolute best. The tour is 4 hours but they just won't quit on finding the animals even if this means more time. I've been on a tour in August and seen Sperm Whales, Sea Turtles and 2 species of Dolphins. It's a wooden boat with a low rev / low frequency engine which allows to get closer to the animals. The captain is very nice and funny. Highly recommended.

That was an amazing experience! We followed a couple of big blue whales with the boat, we also saw a bunch of dolphins on our way back. We stayed in the ocean an hour longer than scheduled, because the captain wanted to make sure we saw and experienced what we've paid for. Moby Dick tours boat was the only one left chasing the whales, when the rest 4 boats around us left (because of their schedule). This is a family run business - the crew members are the captain, his brother and his sons. The captain is very knowledgeable and explained everything about the whales and dolphins which you can see around the Azores. The boat is wooden, 14 meters long, well maintained and comfortable to travel with. I'll absolutely return to Moby Dick tours the next time i visit Sao Miguel island!

We had a great experience with Moby Dick Tours. We saw doplhins and a fin whale. The captain was really nice and made sure that we had a good time. For an even better trip he also took us around the small island. Would definitely recommend without any hesitation. Hoping to come back in spring to see more whales and we will surely chose to go with them again. :)

We had a great time, we were able to see dolphins (4 different types I think, I couldn't keep up!) we also saw a fin whale and sperm whale who was kind enough to show his tail. The crew were all great and wanted to make sure everyone had good time. I would recommend.
