We are a family owned boutique winery located in Portugal in the Alvarinho DO Region Monção e Melgaço. Poema is the result of an enormous respect for nature and all our passion and dedication. Every year we produce a limited and numbered edition of Poema in Albariño cradle in Portugal, a magical place on the bank of Minho River, where our family lived peacefully in communion with nature since the seventeenth century. The art of wine passed from generation to generation until today. It was used in religious ceremonies in the nineteenth century, and tasted by all our family and friends and offered with joy to all those who visit us. In 2000 was made a restructuring of vineyards undertaken by our predecessors Hermínio and Maria de Fátima - the first official taster woman on the Port Wine Committee and invaluable source of strength and knowledge. Inspired by history and the incomparable beauty of the landscape we created the brand Poema to take more afar the family legacy, respecting the past and always looking into the future. Poema reflects this ancestral art of living, being an Alvarinho without haste that rests for 24 months on fine lees and several months on bottle, on a long ageing time granting it complexity and elegance. It is a crisp food friendly Alvarinho that develops in the glass, rich and full on the mouth with a good long finish. In 2009 Poema was included on Sarah Ahmed's - Great 50 Portuguese Wines, in 2015 earned 17 point on Wines of Portugal of João Paulo Martins and can be found at some Michelin Star Restaurants: Aldea (New York - One Michelin Star - chef George Mendes); Fortaleza do Guincho (Cascais - One Michelin Star - chef Miguel Vieira); Belcanto (Lisbon - Two Michelin Stars - chef José Avillez); etc.
