Portuguese Corner is a new Cuisine Restaurant concept, inspired by Portuguese traditions, created by Portuguese chefs, to be tasted all over the world, in Restaurant Hotels. Portuguese food is one of the best attractions to local tourism. It is highly appreciated and it also works as a business card abroad. Portuguese food has conditions to be established outside of Portugal as Italian, Chinese or Japanese food are outside their indigenous countries. Effort need to be made to take Portuguese food outside the borders of Portugal. Although this may appear to be a major challenge, this is where the potential lies and the differentiation can be made. The idea resides in the creation of a concept, using the traditional Portuguese environment and allowing restaurant guests to experience distinctive Portuguese foods, from starters to deserts, not forgetting beverages which include high quality wine. The options available are either to develop a standard restaurant chain with own brand or to use Hotels to create a specific area to serve this type of food that is embedded within a concept. The second option has the extra benefit of low Capex requirement: no equipment, no facilities and no dedicated space. The evaluation is based on the Hotels distributing the product, using existing chains to expand, on a space rental basis and with benefits to both parties.
