The Book Company

The Book Company is located in Lisboa, Portugal on Travessa das Pedras Negras, n.º 1 3.º Dto. The Book Company is rated 5 out of 5 in the category publishing in Portugal. Booktailors was born in 2007 as a publishing consultancy company, a first of its kind in Portugal. It has since branched out and started working on the areas of communication, author representation, event production and training in publishing. When it comes to publishing consultancy, Booktailors founded and created the publishing group 20|20 and relaunched the brand Quetzal, in 2008. On what pertains to author representation, Booktailors holds the literary agency Bookoffice, the first to be established in Portugal. It is also recognized as the main training entity in the Portuguese book market. This is why we have adopted a new brand: The Book Company, which encapsulates our entire multidisciplinary approach to books, publishing and reading. Throughout the years, The Book Company has produced and programmed a series of cultural and literary initiatives. Among these, we count the Aveiro, Braga and Faro book fairs; Fronteira (the first literary festival aimed at children’s and YA literature, set in Castelo Branco); LeV (in Matosinhos, focused on travel literature); Húmus (set in Guimarães, Húmus promotes school sessions, illustration exhibits and several interventions in the public space); and Tinto no Branco (in Viseu, it brings together two of life’s greatest pleasures, literature and wine). In the course of its work, The Book Company has dealt with all five continents, namely with the executive production of Portugal Guest of Honor at the Guadalajara Book Fair (Mexico, 2018); Morabeza – Festa do Livro de Cabo Verde, an annual literary festival taking place in Cabo Verde; the structuring and programming of the first International Rights Center at the Bogotá Book Fair, in 2016; and the programming and executive production of Portugal Guest of Honor at the Bogotá Book Fair, in 2013. Thus, The Book Company now has a portfolio counting over 50 cultural events, 500 sessions in schools, 850 activities, over 500 guests and over 180 journalists for media coverage.
