I regret not reading the review earlier - it's a total tourist scam also on the rude side. Since we went in January, some places recommended by the guides were closed and as it was getting late already, we jumped in. An old lady was sitting outside inviting us saying \it's free\. Knowing these places, I told her that we already had a dinner so we'd like only a drink - she said that was fine. So far everything seemed right, the setting was nothing but intimate. But a suspicious thing was that the singers (\artists\ as they called themselves) were way below average, total amateurs, singing a song or two, then having a break in order to offer more of the overpriced food and drink. After a drink and and hour or more of time wasted and being disappointed, we decided to leave in a decent manner. With a bit of magic juggling with the invoice, we got a bill with 10 euros added to each. I started complaining that it was explicitly told that the entrance is fee; first they referred to some small print on the menu (like a scam company with indecent contracts) and suddenly they became very rude and threatening, blocking the way out at a certain point. It was one of the worst experience I ever had as a tourist; not just a simple trap, but actually a situation on borders of legality. We got away eventually by raising my voice and me telling that I'll call the police; the situation was obviously becoming inconvenient in front of other guests and in the end they just let us go. So. PLEASE AVOID. If such a thing would be happening in my home country, I would report it to the appropriate authority for defense of consumer rights. As a tourist, it's more difficult but I hope more people will read these reviews and places like this will get shut down.

I do not understand the many bad reviews of this place. The plates and the wine were excellent. The music was 10 euros. The food price was not cheap but not too high for the excellent quality. The staff was friendly, the ladyowner and other artists presented a perfect show. I only saw happy faces of the guests and can highly recommend this place.

The Fado show was amazing and the food was delicious! I'm not sure why people are complaining about the prices, everything was properly explained in the menu. The service was good and timely, everyone was helpful and everything was brought as ordered. The band and the singers were friendly and delivered an awesome experience. I hope more people have the great time we had. Thank you!

This place is a horrible tourist trap! We were wandering around our last night, wanting to eat something light and not wait until 9pm. Had a bad feeling, but figured, how bad can it be?? Bad! Minimum charge for the horrible ‘fado’- we left before ever receiving our food after an hour and a half. 2 drinks and bread, olives and cheese 41. Avoid!!

I don’t tend to leave reviews especially negative ones, but I felt I had to let people know what they’re getting into. Total Ripoff - do not go there! We were recommended this place by a ‘friendly taxi driver’ who told us the locals go there. Absolute tourist trap - place was almost empty when we went in which should have given us a heads up but we took taxi driver’s recommendation in good faith. We paid 70 for two dishes, one gin&tonic, & a sparkling water. The prawn dish was over 22 for 2 prawns and a bit of salad!! Still hungry when we left! We were brought bread, cheese, olives & cold meat which we didn’t order- luckily I asked if this was free. It wasn’t - the meat was about 10, bread & cheese & olives roughly about another 6-8. So if we had eaten that we would have been charged for these items that we thought were complimentary. We were also charged for the music which we thought was free. Wouldn’t give even one star if I had the choice.

For the music! All the bad reviews are from people who had no idea what this place is. If you think the appetizers brought to your table are complimentary, that just means you don't know anything about eating out in Portugal. This is not a place to go for two beers. It's a concert venue for a very traditional Fado performance, with maybe the best acoustics of any place in Lisbon. The same complainers about the prices here would readily pay 60 for a concert ticket, or 10 for a glass of wine, in the states.
