Simple, cheap, local, coffee shop located near the funicular. We stopped by for some coffee and pastries and while only 1 person there spoke English, we were able to get exactly what we wanted. Lots of pastries to choose from and some have a lot of chocolate inside. The place was full of locals, so we felt it was more authentic than others.

This is one of the most popular traditional Portuguese cafe shop in town that woke me up with a nice punch of intense aroma&tasty caffeine in a tiny little cup of coffee and crispy delicious Portuguese tarts. Moreover, 0.60 for each coffee plus 1 for a tart. This is an definitely recommended stop for everyone in this universe.

Best breakfast in the Bairro Alto area. Dont go for the before or after places. Packed with locals enjoing Cafe Galo (latte in glass) and their special croissant (yeasty moist, different than the French one!) or very good Jesuits (sweet yolk filled cake baked in crispy french style) and best in town Bolad de Berlim (doughnut stuffed with pudding).

The best Pasteis de Nata and Bolos de Salsicha! I was always here for breakfast. You can order a nice Portuguese breakfast for two people with coffee and still pay around 6!
