Misericórdia is a Portuguese borough of Lisbon, belonging to the historical center of the capital, with 2.19 km² of area and 13,044 inhabitants. It was created under the administrative reorganization of Lisbon of 2012, which came into effect after the municipal elections of 2013, resulting from the aggregation of the old boroughs of Encarnação, Santa Catarina, Mercês and São Paulo. In only 1% of the territory are 4% of the City buildings, 3% of households and 2% of the population. There is, therefore, twice the density of occupation of the city.
