Belém Tower (Portuguese: Torre de Belém, pronounced [ˈtoʁ(ɨ) dɨ bɨˈlɐ̃ȷ̃]), officially the Tower of Saint Vincent (Portuguese: Torre de São Vicente) is a 16th-century fortification located in Lisbon that served as a point of embarkation and disembarkation for Portuguese explorers and as a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. It was built during the height of the Portuguese Renaissance, and is a prominent example of the Portuguese Manueline style, but it also incorporates hints of other architectural styles. The structure was built from lioz limestone and is composed of a bastion and a 30-metre (98.4 ft),four-storey tower.

Tejo is one of the icons of the city of Lisbon. When it was built it was completely surrounded by the waters of the river, but over the centuries it has been surrounded by the beach and today it is on dry land. Its construction is due to the wishes of King D. Manuel I to reinforce the defensive line of the Portuguese coast and took place between the years

Really nice medieval and touristic tower to visit. During sunset the pictures are amazing. You should definitely go. Open until 18:30 but from October to April 17:30. You can see from outside anyway.

My second time to visit here but totally different feeling because there were none of visitors in Nov 2020. Weather was nice and glad to come closer to look at this beautiful architect .

Beautiful, but not 'amazing'. Definitely visit this site during your stay in Lisbon, but don't expect too much from it. The history behind the tower was the most impressive part. Easily accessable by taking a bike tour or using the metro/train. Walking is also possible, but might take a while from the city centre.

The belem tower is a must see place in Lisbon, day or night it is gorgeous and you can imagine the Portuguese ships departing from that small beach right next to it on their way to discover the world..

Very impressive structure that has stood so long protecting the mouth of Lisbon. It was beautiful to walk by the river and take pictures of in the afternoon. The only drawback is how far from the Afalma district it is, prepare to Uber or public transportation as it is a very long walk. Would still highly recommend going to see this impressive piece of architecture.
