It could be a very interesting place, but in this moment the building and the exhibitions are in a very bad condition. Only guided visits now. At least the guides add some important information to the poor quality exhibition that is, mostly, a collection of minerals in showcases.

Very good place if you’d like to know how Azores islands appear/consist. The staff are very welcome. You can ask anything related to geography and history. Since there is a session the staff explains, you could check the starting time so that you don’t need to wait:) I should have visited there before going some places like Furnas, Sete Cidades, and so on. That’ll be absolutely different.

A very symbolic price (1,5) for a super interesting visit and explanation about the vulcanic activity and the foundations of Azores. I totally recommend!

Great place to understand history of the Açores an d landscape you see on the island. Every Person should visit first here to get better understanding of the nature of the San Miguel!

A great visit to understand how the islands were built and they also had a huge collection of minerals. You can only visit the center on a guided tour for a cheap price on certain times. We had a great guide and a fantastic time!

Slightly run down, staff were lovely and explained everything. I particularly loved being showed the growing of a new island from a volcano. Activity time approx 1 hr

A small museum with very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. Great with kids. Excellent English. Only open to public in the afternoons but well worth going if you want to find out about the volcanic history of the Azores. We visited on a rainy day and not that busy.
