Fred led us down into the beautiful nature of the Caldeira crater. It was a wonderful and interesting experience. He told us a lot about the species there (especially the endemic ones), volcanoes and was happy to answer any questions we had. We learned a lot that day and had a great time. Highly recommended!

The trek down the Caldeira with Fred was one of the highlights of my two-week trip! The landscape is incredible though the experience is made so much better with Fred teaching you about the geology, flora and fauna of the area. Not to be missed!

I booked a half day tour with Fred last minute while travelling solo around the Azores. He was very friendly, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable regarding the history of Faial. I learned a ton in just a few short hours which made me wish I had allotted more time to spend exploring the island. Fred also prepared a picnic lunch for us at a local park to sample various cheeses, breads, fruits and treats from the island. I would highly recommend Fred if you're interested to learn about the immense volcanic history and flora on the island :)

One of the best guide in the Azores. Fred was so nice, peacefull and fun. He has managed our big familly (4 childs and one baby (1 year old)) very naturaly and provided plenty of information on the island. We made a snorkelling tour and we don't regret our choice, for the beauty of the swimming site and the compagny of fred as well... The Endemic shop store is also astonishing with a lot of suistanable and crafthand products. Thanks a lot. Nicolas

We booked two activities with Endemic: a day-tour of Faial and snorkelling. Fred is a rather relaxed and likeable chap, which makes him a great guide and makes for an enjoyable, more casual tour of the island. Some tours can be a bit frenetic, rushing from one "must-see" to another without really having time to take them in. That is not the case here, we had plenty of time to see the main sights and some of the lesser known, but equally fascinating or beautiful, ones as we were driven around the island in a small group. Fred is knowledgable and interesting. He certainly knows plenty about the local culture, the nature and environment and history of the place. The stop at Capelinhos particularly captured our imaginations. The snorkelling was equally enjoyable. We went to a fairly easygoing site given that we were both beginners and spent over an hour swimming around absorbed by all the fish and sea-life around us. It was fantastic. Fred guided us around and provided all the equipment, as well as taking loads of photos for us. We ended the session with a picnic, which Fred had prepared and included some local pastries and food. It was a pleasant surprise and such a perfect end to the snorkelling. We couldn't be more pleased with both tours. Endemic, and Fred, were fantastic and clearly passionate about the environment and the oceans. If only everyone else was! We should also mention that Fred makes some fantastic t-shirts should you be in the market for a hand-crafted souvenir to take home.
