If I could leave a 100 Star Review, I would. This crew is absolutely amazing. We did a private trail running guided trip on Faial and had a blast. It was like having a live nature documentary and run happening at the same time. So much amazing knowledge that sparked curiosity and interest. The run was a perfect balance of challenge and fun. Plus we got to dive into the ocean at the finish, which makes everything even more amazing. Any activity you book with this team should be spectacular.

My entire experience with OurIsland was a pleasure. Great communication from the start, they took time to customize two tours for a solo traveler like myself. They even did some digging to help me track down info on my long lost Faialense relatives. Though the weather was grey, windy, and rainy my first day on Faial, Luis managed to take me to some great spots and I learned so much about life on Faial, the history, the geography, and the ecology. The Pico hike through the lava field vineyards to Lajido followed by amazing lunch in Madalena then swimming and sunbathing on the north coast was such an incredible day - highly recommend! Thank you Luis (for being an amazing guide and teacher), Rita (for your excellent communication and organization), and Pedro (for the belly laughs)! The triangle islands are truly a special place and I hope to return and explore more soon.
Climbing Pico Mountain Wow! What a trip that was! Thank you so much to Rita (who handled the whole administration stuff and communicated with us before the climb) and to Luis (who was the best guide to introduce us to stunning Pico Mountain)! We found Ourisland Azores thoroughly professional, fun and flexible. And from the moment we met Luis at the ferry terminal in Horta early in the morning until we parted again around 12 hours later we had fun, felt tremendously safe and learned so much about the region, the islands, the mountain, the people and all their challenges. Being avid mountain hikers (mainly in the Alps, though) we felt it was right to hire a guide to climb Pico Mountain. While one can find the way up to the crater rim and to the peak on his/her own, an experienced mountain guide always knows the right paths to follow up AND DOWN, cares about safety (sharp lava rocks, slippery gravel and muddy soil) and knows when to take the occasional break. Luis kept a wonderfully steady pace up and down and let us into so many interesting facts and secrets - absulutely fabulous. He could \sense\ the mountain and knew exactly when another five minutes of hiking made the difference between having a break in the clouds and enjoying a sip of tea and some chocolate under the nice September sun ;-) All in all: perfect agency, perfect guide - we will be back for more. Luis, Rita, and Pedro of Our Island were amazing hosts - and are some of the most exceptional, and inspiring people I have ever met. Their love for the island and the environment is contagious. They were adventurous, passionate, intelligent, enthusiastic, and charming. I appreciate their energy and patience in hosting our large group of people - adapting plans to fit the needs of the group. They answered our questions - and filled our days with new adventures and experiences. I can't recommended them highly enough.
My girlfriend and I asked Our Island to be our guide for a trip to Pico Island. It was a blast! Our guide, Pedro, was very knowledgeable of the area. He truly spoke with passion of the island and the Azores in general. We did a day tour in Pico and really enjoyed the many stops he took us to. Visiting a lava tunnel is quiet an experience! Great company, we had a tour with Pedro. He really cares about the islands and is extremely knowledgeable and funny. It was a really fun and personal experience. When we come back to Faial we will definitely book through OurIsland again
Unique hike with private guide down to Caldeira do Faial with OurIsland ! My partner did this hike together with guide Luís from OurIsland (a guide is mandatory as this is a secluded natural reserve), he was really thrilled and would not stop telling me all about it. This is in any event a strikingly beautiful Caldeira when you walk along the ridge and see it from above, imagine being down there in a Jurassic Park landscape. Highly recommended. Very good contact with Rita who organised everything and was very tactful in leading me to realise that this hike is way too difficult for my own level. Thanks Rita and Luís ! We will want to climb Pico Mountain with you next time.
