Amazing castle with so much history and unique stuff. The torture rooms and equipments are very impressive, you can miss that, cost extra but worth every dollar. If you visit Guimaraes Castle, Palace of the Dukes is next to it.
Absolutely fantastic, a must-see ! It was a wonderful palace with full of stuff. Once you are here don't miss out any room, so get into every room you see is accessible. You can see the furniture from its time, the paintings on the walls are beautiful, the armory, the dining room , every room was full of history. Imagine the banquets there when that huge room was full of royalty or commanders of the time. It is very impressive. Loved it!
Palace of the Dukes of Braganza - amazing palace. There are so many to see into the palace. The building are very well maintained.
The palace is very beautiful and very well mantained. Nevertheless, we should notice that it was re-built in the 20 century. It deserves to be visited.
There is no doubt that this building and the surrounding grounds are magnificent. We just did a quick stop for about two hours in this town, and were blown away by the architecture here. There are many, many photos online of this wonderful building, and I am gonna post a few myself. But, none of the photos can do this place justice. You just have to come here and see it. The tapestries alone are worth the price of admission. Speaking of admission, we paid 5.00 for my wife and 2.50 for me, with my senior discount. Quick note: all the parking lots near this edifice fill up rather early., so we parked on the street. As we were paying the fee and buying our receipt to put in the window, two police officers came walking down the street ticketing vehicles. They were kind enough to chat with us for several minutes, and gave us tips on what to see and what not to see. They also said they would keep an eye on our rental car. Very nice police officers. Please do stop here. It is worth the effort.
One of the places where Portugal's history started. Nicely restored and great place to visit. The chapel is very beautiful and the rooms decorations try to show how life was at the historical period.
I recommend that you buy the combo ticket to visit both the castle and the palace for 6. It's worth a visit and go around noon to 1pm if you want to avoid crowds.
