To be honest - we only came here because the restaurant we wanted to go to looked too posh and we were starving... in the end we were really glad we came here, the food was delicious. Especially the lamb koftas with sauces and amazingly spiced rice. Fish were great, too. The old crepe and the weird turkish pop were the only downside..

I was rather disappointed with this establishment. The restaurant itself looks nice well decorated. Staff was quite attentive, starters were great but my main course was a bit of a let down. I had chicken (wouldn’t recommend) my wife had lamb chops which were great and my son had lamb kofte, again which was very tasty.

Upon my visit to Madeira I've searched for Turkish restaurant on Google as I was interested to see if its available .being Turkish I allways like to try kebab. But I was appalled by this place. The only Turkish thing about it is the chef. Chicken and lamb shish made by the Turkish chef was good. But everything else was no where near Turkish. Kofte was indian almost tasted like Indian sheek kebab but very dry and microwaved. They serve baklava! As desert which is no where near as Baklava the pastry was filo pastry dry and didn't even have any trace of pistachios! I don't even want to talk about the salad or rice. The owner's kept on walking over to our table touching us and asking if we ok every 2 minutes. I feel like this was very unprofessional and made us uncomfortable couldn't enjoy our meal. They also kept on walking over to the grill watching over the chef and even touching the food in several occasions! All in all as a Turkish I feel insulted that this place trades under Turkish restaurant! It's no where near representing our kitchen or tradition! I will give 0 stars if it existed..

My partner and I feel offended that it's called Istanbul but really serving Indian cuisine. Nowhere near Turkish food, the staff are patronising, the actual chef who is Turkish made lovely Chicken Shish but the rest was horrendous. The salad is not fresh, the rice is overpowered by curry powder. The lamb kofte was dry and looked like balls of charcoal, it did not resemble the traditional Turkish kofte. I feel ashamed that the locals have this image of our Turkish heriditory as its very misleading. The decor is middle Eastern and not Turkish at all... All in all, this place is a joke. The Baklava is not fresh, it's dry, doesn't have pistachios, tastes overpowered by cinnamon or some sort of ingredient that isn't even used in traditional baklava. My money spent here is not justified, and definitely do not recommend. I am horrified.
