Perfect location. Stayed here as a couple. Read reviews before we came, but we always make our own minds up on arrival. Yes it's dated, but everything else is fine. Checking in was quick, reception staff always acknowledged us when passing. Cleaners very socialable , breakfast was fine. People often complain about breakfast, but in reality when I'm at home, I have a slice of toast and a coffee. Loads more options here. Outdoor pool cold, but heated pool and jacuzzi are great. The building work did not spoil our stay, we looked onto the building site, as well as having fantastic sea views. As we were on floor 7, amazing views. Overall a lovely week. I can't think of anywhere in England we could stay, for the same amount of money we have paid to come here.

Lovely hotel not too far from the local shops, bars and restaurants ect. We were b&b so can only comment on breakfast which was quite good. The room was clean and well maintained with utensils and appliances. All in all our stay here was well worth the money we paid. My only niggle, awakened by the noisy lift doors. If you stay here be sure to visit "the local pub" opposite the hotel, wonderful little pub with very friendly staff.

A bit old fashioned in places but good friendly service with decent sized rooms with balconies. Self catering is basic but it all works. A sea view where you can actually see the sea and clean with a decent range of facilities across 3 buildings. It's also quite an impressive building if you like old concrete architecture. Basically as good as you could want at this price point.

Great hotel for travelers who want to see Madeira and not beaches and pools. Everything was without problem. Nice people on the reception. Nice renovated room with fully equipped kitchen. Pool, sauna and whirlpool was nice. The dinner were in the hotel above ours and were delicious- every day was choice between fish or meat with different sidedish - even though there wasn't many meals it was totally sufficient, the breakfast was after one week quite boring, but if you are not very demanding you will be alright. Sometimes the towels were missing or weren't changed, but when we told that on the reception, they put it right immediately. P.S. the shower head was really interesting.

No pool bar in fact no bar at all basic rooms looked better on line also building site opposite there's no beach but a lido and unless you're a good walker you need to get a bus into centre, This review is only for the Buganvilia hotel the indoor pool and spa isn't in the actual hotel it's between hotels up an incline you have to go outside to go to it breakfast in my opinion was poor

Basic accommodation. Clean but a bit dated. Good value for money. Great views from the balcony. I was on 8th floor. Ideal for Lido area and city centre. Public bus service from the main road just 2 streets away. Plenty of supermarkets in the area and a small shop on site which is open selected hours. Small kitchen area with a fridge. WIFI in public areas only.

Cheap but cheerful! A great location just 5 mins walk from the lido. We stayed (well are staying!) On the tenth floor in one of the newly renovated rooms. Large room with kitchen, modern bathroom with super powerful shower and absolutely amazing views (would be better without the crane but can't blame the hotel for that!). 2 outdoor pools with one indoor along with gym and juccuzi. Breakfasts are great and include cereal, fruit, pastries, sausages, eggs, beans and French bread. Everything you could want. Very friendly staff who speak great English. It's in a brilliant location with loads of great bars, shops and restaurants, just a few streets away, yet is very quite around the hotel. The yellow tour bus stop is two roads away and takes you round the island for just 5euros a day. I'd definitely recommend it, it's a really great location for a 3 star hotel.

Think we must have missed something as I thought it was a Hotel. Surprise to find small kitchenette in the room! Very basic. Two rings didn’t get more than touch-warm. No tea or coffee. Reception staff very good and got us an electric kettle. The fridge kept freezing everything and we reported it three times - had to operate it with the on/off switch. Otherwise a spacious and clean room. Comfortable beds and great hot shower, wonderful. Lifts good and nice feel to interior of the hotel. We booked half board. Thoroughly enjoyed our lovely breakfasts and very friendly staff. Unfortunately dinner was provided at another hotel up the hill. After a long day walking to have to climb this was a bit of a killer for me. And more stairs down to the restaurant and back up again to return to our hotel. Food was good - not always labelled (just Chef’s Selection) and a lot of choice. Our one grumble was that we were refused a jug of water to have with our meal. Considering we were drinking the tap water this seemed very petty. We could have bought bottled water but it was dearer than the beer!!!! So we mostly went without and got our wine from the very good local supermarket. Jane and Colin Fisher
