I was renting the car from your branch in Funchal and brought the car to the airport yesterday. The employee (Paulo) I've met at the parking said that he is not going to check my car as usual because \of the virus. we do it 2 hours later\. It was a weird excuse not to do his job, because all the other rental companies I used before (even in pandemic times) always checked the car and closed the rental. At least he could look the car around from the outside to check if there are new scratches. I've brought the car back with the full tank (have a receipt from the nearest gas station) and also have the pictures of all the scratches at the beginning and the end of the rental period. So if everything will get wrong when the Funchal branch will finally come down to check the car I will dispute any inconsistencies. Usually, everything goes smoothly with my rentals, even with Avis Budget, but this time I am dissatisfied. Even from the beginning, the car was given me dirty and not disinfected. For me it was okay not to say anything but together with the bad drop off experience, it's enough.

This are the scratches that were on the car when I got it. As you can see the scratches are huge and easily noticeable. At the parking there was nobody from Avis. I took these pictures and sent them immediately via email the same day. This is what lady at arrivals desk suggested when getting the keys. When I returned the car I had to drop it at parking. There is a sign from Avis saying that due to COVID they are closed and there was nobody to accept the car. Later I get a report saying that these scratches are my fault. This is a trap! Due to COVID you will not be able to enter arrivals area and speak to the company representative. I tried to call them but they do not answer. This is a scam and no more Avis!
Fast and simple. During the trip had a puncture , went to replace the car and was a really simple process. I was fully covered by avis insurance which obviously it makes the process much easier. I highly recommend the insurance otherwise the puncture would have ruined my holidays.

All as described and agreed. Not to pushy about additional insurance. Tank was completely full with fuel after pick up. Car perfectly clean.

robbery! people were forced to buy extra insurance! in between 15min, 3 clients with a booking were pushed to buy additional packages. costs for car rental 300, costs for insurance 260. the deposit was almost 3000 for a short rental...i thought avis is a brand of trust, but rental car business is the same crime all around the globe. not to recommend!
They have cancelled our booking without any advice. Unbelievable.
