Found this Museum with an empty gallery right at the entrance (yet the bare walls were illuminated for some reason), the lady at the desk was not able to provide usinformation regarding other local museums (she seemed uncaring) and there was a man following our entourage around, without proper ID nor attire, stalking us for a while. Eventually the man told us who he was - an official from the museum - only patronize us about the masks (which we could not criticise, because he was also the artist) and how paintings should be lit. We felt uneasy throught the entire visit... The museum does have an interesting collection but I feel that staff needs training on how to receive the visitor... We didn't have a terrible experience but it was not a good one either...

Museo cuya visita es imprescindible para conocer la evolución histórica de la región de Trás os Montes. Cuenta con una buena selección de obras de arte y elementos arqueológicos de diferentes épocas. Además su nombre homenajea a uno de los grandes sabios de la zona: el Abade de Baçal. Muy recomendable. En la misma calle es posible visitar varios museos más y está muy cerca del castillo también.
Exposição variada, desde arte sacra, fotografia, pintura e artefactos arqueológicos.
Uma exposição lindíssima \Encontros no Jardins\. Vale a pena ver.
